Hi, I'm Kristy - and I'm so glad you're here.

A little about me, why I do what I do, and where we're going together.

Who I am

Okay, let's start at the beginning. I'm Kristy Lourance — a photographer based out of my studio in Fort Collins,CO , and honestly, photography is so much more than a career for me. It's how I see the world. It's how I connect with people. And if I'm being totally real with you, it's the thing that makes me feel most alive.

I specialize in photographing women — in studio, in black and white, with nothing but light, shadow, and pure simplicity. No busy backgrounds, no distractions. Just you, exactly as you are.

"I believe every woman has something extraordinary in her. My job is just to show her what I already see."

What I do

My work lives mostly in the studio. I'm drawn to the quiet power of black and white photography — the way it strips everything down to what actually matters. It's honest. It's timeless. And it has this way of making people look at themselves differently — in the best possible way.

Right now I offer a few different types of sessions: I photograph women in my studio (my absolute favorite), I do senior sessions, and I've recently started offering what I call stranger sessions — and trust me, they're as magical as they sound. My direction is toward clean, minimal studio work for everything I do, because I truly believe that's where the most powerful images live.

Where I'm headed

I'll be honest — I'm in a bit of a beautiful transition right now. I'm leaning harder into studio work, minimalism, and that signature black and white look that I can't seem to get enough of. I want every session I offer — whether it's a senior portrait, a personal branding shoot, or a stranger session — to feel cohesive, intentional, and quietly stunning.

This blog is part of that journey. I wanted a space to share my work, my process, my thoughts on photography and the women I photograph — and honestly, just to connect with you more.

When & why I started

Photography found me the way the best things in life tend to — slowly, and then all at once. What started as a passion 17 years ago, became a purpose when I realized that what I was really doing wasn't just taking pictures. I was giving women a moment to be seen. To feel seen. And that changed everything for me.

There is something that happens in a studio session — when a woman stops performing for the camera and just is — and I get to capture that. That's the moment I live for.

Why I'm here (and why I want you to stay)

I started this blog because I wanted somewhere to be real. To show you not just the finished images but the ideas behind them. To talk about why I believe in simplicity. To share behind-the-scenes moments, client stories (with permission, of course!), and maybe even some things I'm still figuring out.  I want to share my local favorites and give you tips and tricks.

If you're a woman who's ever thought, "I could never do a photoshoot — that's not really for me," I want you to know this space is especially for you. Because it is for you. It always has been.

I'm so glad you found me. Stick around — I have a feeling this is going to be really good.

Until next time,

Kristy
